How To Crochet Morrocan Tile Stitch Purse

Materials used:
3.75 mm (No. 5) Crochet Hook
1.75 mm Steel hook
Zipper
Yarns (Teal and White)

You may use any hook and yarn of your choice.

This stitch is done in multiples of 3.

ROUND 1: Using a steel hook to easily poke through the holes of the zipper, start on the upper ends of the zip with 1 single crochet.
You may mark 29 holes in advance along the edges of the zip so that it would be easy to work 1 SC across until you get to the other end for a total of 29 SCs.

Once you get to the other end, chain 2. Pivot your work and work 29 single crochets on the opposite side.

Don't forget to chain 2 before slip stitching on top of the first single crochet made.

ROUND 2:
Using a bigger hook 3.75 mm, Chain 1. Work 1 SC on the same stitch. Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around including the chain 2 on each corner. The number of stitches should be 66. Once you get around, work a slip stitch on top of the first single crochet made.

 ROUND 3:
Chain 3. This counts as 1 double crochet . Add 1 more chain for the chain space then work 1 double crochet in the same stitch. We created a V stitch. Skip 2 single crochets. Work another V stitch and skip 2 stitches. Repeat this pattern around. Work a slip stitch on top of the third beginning chain. Add a stitch marker or leave a long loop and let it stay on front. We will now leave it for awhile and work on another yarn color.

ROUND 4:
With a different yarn color, work your first V stitch on top of the first V stitch of the previous round. You may start with a standing double crochet or chain 3. Add 1 chain for the chain space then 1 double crochet in the same stitch.
Work a V stitch on top of each V stitch of the previous round. Slip stitch on top of the beginning third chain. Add a stitch marker so it will not come undone. We will now go back to the main color.

ROUND 5:
Chain 3 ( counts as 1 double crochet). Add 1 more chain for the chain space. 1 double crochet in the same stitch up and over the two previous stitches. Work another V stitch around the 2 V stitches of the 2 previous rounds ( round 2 & 3). Keep working the V stitches until you get back around. Slip stitch on top of the beginning third chain.

ROUND 6 to 15
You are going to repeat Round 4 and 5 alternately until you get to your desired height of the purse.

ROUND 16
With the main color being the last round of V stitches. Chain 1. Work 1 single crochet in the same stitch and in each stitch across. Slip stitch on top of the first single crochet. Fasten off.

ROUND 17
Turn the purse inside out . Work a single crochet on both edges across to close off the bottom. You may also work a whip stitch instead. Once done, fasten off and weave in the ends.

Flip the purse again to show the right side and you are done. Sew the zipper ends to keep it from getting in the way.  You may add a keychain on the zip for a more attractive look.

It is just a very simple project that you might want to make for giveways, souvenirs or early Christmas presents.

This is my very first blog in which I have written down this very first pattern that I have designed.
