How to Crochet a Unity Bucket Hat

Hello everyone, it's been a long time since I have written down a pattern. I love this design. Let me tell you a little story about this interlocking circles I found on pinterest. I was supposed to make one until I have been reminded by a couple of my fellow crocheters on Kumu. It's nice being able to get inspired by others. The moment I set my eyes on this interlocking circles, I have been thinking about different ideas in which I can make use of these ones. I even made a bucket bag using Rayon. I will write about it in my next blog. I am happy to share with you this awesome project.

For this project, I will be using Ogo Yarn Colorama Overboard 180 grams.  5.5 mm crochet hook. I used a smaller hook because I am a lose crocheter. It may be slightly bigger if you use 6 mm. You will need some scissors and yarn needles for weaving in the ends. If you dont have an O'go yarn, you may use any bulky yarn #5 to be able to have the same size of project as mine.

Round 1: Make a magic ring. Work 5 single crochets in the ring.

We will be working in a spiral round.

Round 2: 2 single crochets into every stitch around. (10 SC)

Round 3: 2 single crochets into every 2nd stitch arojund  (15 SC)

Round 4: 2 single crochets into every 3rd stitch around (20 SC)

Round 5: 2 single crochets into every 4rth stitch around (25 SC)

Round 6: 2 single crochets into every 5th stitch around (30 SC)

Round 7: 2 single crochets into every 6th stitch arounf (35 SC)

Round 8: 2 single crochets into every 7th stitch around (40 SC)

Round 9: 2 single crochets into every 8th stitch around (45 SC)

Round 10: 2 single crochets into every 9th stitch around (50 SC)

Round 11: 2 single crochets into every 10th stitch around (55 SC)

Round 12: 2 single crochets into every 11th stitch around (60 SC)

Round 13: 2 single crochets into every 12th stitch around (65 SC)

Once done chain 1 then fasten off. Weave in the ends.

At this round, you will measure the circumference of the circle. It should

be 22 inches to make an adult bucket hat.

Next, we will make the interlocking circles to attach later on to  the circle piece.

Chain 15. Slip stitch into the first chain made to form a ring.

Work 30 double crochets into the ring. Chain 1 then fasten off.

Next chain 15. Insert into the first circle made then finish making the circle.

the front side should be in the same direction with the first circle made. Once done chain 1 then fasten off. Chain 15 then insert into the second circle made. Repeat the process until you have joined each of the 12 circles. Once done we will chain 15 then insert it over the circl e and under the other one. This will make the infinity interlocking circles. Chain 1 then fasten off.

Next, we will add stitches on both ends of the interlocking circles. Make a slip knot. Work 1 SC into each of the next 4 stitches of each circle followed by chain 1. Repeat into each of 13 circle. Once you get back around, work 1 more round of SC. Total number of stitches must be 65 single crochets. Once done, join the circle piece by working a crab stitch around. fasten off then weave in the ends. We will work the same way on the other side.

Make a slip knot. Skip 11 stitches. Work 1 Sc into each of the 4 stitches. This will be on the opposite side of the circle. then chain 1. Repeat into each circle around. Next, work 1 single crochet into each stitch around.

Next, we will make a brim. We will then work an increase into the next round. If you check the flat circle pattern, we will continue with Round 14 Flat circle pattern in which we will work an increase into every 13th stitch around. Keep working an increase until Round 20. Chain 1 then fasten off.
